Con el objetivo de contribuir a la generación de conciencia en los futuros profesionales mineros, acerca de la necesidad de contar con la licencia social para operar y de la atención que el sector debe prestar a las opiniones de la sociedad en cuanto a la minería y sus diversas etapas y procesos; Minera Santa Cruz y Argentina Mining lanzan el Segundo Concurso "Qué es la Minería para mí", destinado a estudiantes de carreras afines a la minería, de universidades e institutos de todo el país.

Los trabajos se recibirán entre el 16 de julio y el 10 de agosto de 2012, únicamente por correo electrónico a Esta dirección electrónica esta protegida contra spam bots. Los Primeros 50 inscriptos recibirán una beca para participar sin costo en Argentina Mining 2012, la IX convención Internacional sobre Oportunidades de Negocios en Exploración, Geología y Minería, a realizarse del 4 al 6 de septiembre de 2012 en la ciudad de Salta.

Tras la etapa de presentación de trabajos, una comisión lectora de preselección evaluará el total del material enviado por parte de los estudiantes inscriptos y seleccionará tres trabajos finalistas, entre los que un jurado especializado distinguirá el proyecto ganador. Edgardo Volpi, gerente de Recursos Humanos de Minera Santa Cruz destacó: "La compañía apuesta permanentemente al desarrollo de los profesionales. Apoyar esta iniciativa es una manera de alcanzar nuevas fronteras y favorecer al crecimiento de la actividad minera en Argentina".

Quien obtenga el premio mayor, tendrá la posibilidad de realizar una pasantía laboral en Minera Santa Cruz, que le permitirá llevar a la práctica los conocimientos aprendidos y vivir una valiosa experiencia profesional, y su trabajo será publicado en el sitio web de Argentina Mining. Además, el ganador y los 2 finalistas recibirán un GPS y un pasaje a Salta para asistir a Argentina Mining 2012.

¿Cómo participar?

Los estudiantes interesados deberán presentar un trabajo que consiste en tres partes:

a) redacción de un pequeño ensayo que describa qué es la minería para el/ella.

b) entrevista a un mínimo de dos personas de su entorno inmediato, no relacionadas con el sector minero de modo alguno, con la misma pregunta del nombre de este concurso (qué es la minería para ellos).

c) redacción de sugerencias finales, para mejorar la aceptación social de la minería.
