Nueva fecha llega tras rechazo de accionistas en julio.

Xstrata informó ayer que sus accionistas votarán el 7 de septiembre sobre la venta de la minera por US$ 26.000 millones a Glencore, dando al operador de materias primas e inversionista rival Qatar Holding seis semanas para elaborar un acuerdo sobre los términos de la oferta.

Una votación programada inicialmente para julio fue pospuesta después de que reclamos de accionistas forzaron a Xstrata el mes pasado a hacer una revisión de los paquetes de retención de sus principales directivos. Los accionistas objetaban que los paquetes principalmente en dinero en efectivo no correspondían con el rendimiento.

Aunque la fecha de septiembre puede cambiar, fuentes cercanas al caso y analistas dijeron que establecía una suerte de plazo y una meta para las negociaciones entre Glencore y el fondo soberano de riqueza de Qatar, dueño del 11% de la minera, lo que lo convierte en el mayor accionista.

Bajo las reglas de adquisición, Glencore tiene hasta dos semanas antes de la fecha de votación para modificar los términos de su oferta. Una maniobra de última hora es posible, aunque provocaría otra postergación de la fecha.

Xstrata dijo también que seguía esperando que la fusión se produjera en el cuarto trimestre del año.
